Objectives: to encourage the pupils’ interest towardslearning English; to revise the vocabulary onthe themes: “Features of people’s character”, “Holidayplans”; to develop unprepared speaking skills ofthe pupils; to develop the pupils’ thinking abilitiesand creative potential.
Equipment: sheets of paper, coloured pencils or fountain pens, a ball.
Theme “We are creative”
Task 1: Introduce yourself, tell what you hobby you have (chain work) and what hobby you’d like to have.
Task 2: Say what object / animal you associate your — (chain work) self with and explain why.
Task 3: Decode the word “creativity”. Write what (group work) people can be creative.
Task 4 (group work): Draw an emblem / a symbol of what creative is. Explain the contents of your pictures.
Task 5 (group work): Make up a sentence about creative people starting all the words in the sentence with one letter or sound.
Example: [k] Creative clowns can contribute mush to kids’ culture
Task 6 (ball game): Throw a ball and name some object. Ask your classmate to name at least 3 ways of creative usage of the object.
Example: We may use an umbrella
for carrying things (fruit, vegetables, water)
as a walking-stick
Task 7 (summing up): Complete the sentence: “I’m creative, because…
Theme “Love and Friendship”
Task 1 (chain work): Introduce yourself and name 3 good features in your character.
Example: My name is Boris. I don’t want to boast but l am a faithful friend, l am a good son and l am a diligent student.
Task 2 (group work): Write what friendship (I group) and love (II group) are…
1. What is the difference between “love” and “friendship”?
2. can you love somebody, first and then become friend? Or vice versa?
Task 3 (group work): Write good and bad features of boys (I group), and good and bad features of girls (II groups).
1. What common good and bad features do boys and girls have?
2. Do the features written by the groups reflect the features that pupils really have?
3. What should boys and girls do to be an ideal for friendly relations and love?
Task 4 (group work): Draw a heart and fill it with the ways of showing love and friendliness to each other.
Task 5. Summing up (chain work): Give wishes to everybody in the group for St. Valentine’s Day.
Theme “Let’s have a rest together”
Task 1 (chain work): Name your favorite wayof having a rest. Explain your choice.
Task 2 (group work): Make up a list of ways of having a rest. (the groups exchange their lists and add other ideas to the ways of having a rest to the other groups lists)
Task 3 (group work): Choose 5 most popular ways of having a rest. Explain your choice.
Task 4 (group work): Choose 5 most popular ways of having a rest, let the other groups choose their representatives to show these ways of having a rest to them and let the other groups guess what their representatives will show.
Task 5 (group work): Think of organizing a rest home of your own. Make up a programmed of rest of your rest home. Make up an advertisement booklet for your rest home and invite the other groups to your rest home.
Task 6 (group work): Wish your group mates whatever you want for the coming spring / summer holidays.
